Mayor Campaigns for Taylor Swift to Attend Chiefs-Vikings Game
'We know All Too Well the positive impact Taylor Swift has on the cities she visits -- Minneapolis is no exception,' Frey said of the pop icon
The mayor of Minneapolis is hoping to get the Taylor Swift effect this weekend. Jacob Frey said the singer is more than welcome to attend the Minneapolis Vikings' game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 8.
"We know All Too Well the positive impact Taylor Swift has on the cities she visits -- Minneapolis is no exception," Frey told TMZ in a pun-filled response that made references to Swift songs.
If she does attend the game, it would mark Swift's third NFL game appearance in a row amid her spending time with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Frey went on to share how Swift's Minneapolis stop for her global Eras Tour helped the city, which was temporarily renamed Swiftieapolis in her honor.
"Her two, sold-out concerts at U.S. Bank Stadium in June led to a record-setting tourism weekend including booked-up hotels and packed downtown restaurants... boosting our local economy beyond our Wildest Dreams," said Frey of the June dates.
He added, "If Taylor chooses to come back to Minneapolis [sometimes known as Swiftieapolis] this weekend, we’ll be Ready For It."
Ending with a cheeky response, Frey said, "It’s possible she will have to console Travis Kelce after the Vikings beat the Chiefs, but there are plenty of great spots across town for them to go on a date and lift their spirits!"

Swift first appeared at the Chiefs vs. Chicago Bears last month. Within 24 hours, Kelce's jersey sales saw a 400 percent spike, making the Super Bowl champ "one of the top 5 selling NFL players," Fanatics — the NFL's official e-commerce partner — told The Messenger at the time.
Condiment giant Heinz also introduced a new flavor, Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch, as a nod to Swift's NFL game presence.
Swift most recently appeared at the Chiefs' game against the New York Jets on Sunday, where she cheered on the team with Kelce's mom and fellow A-liseters.
