Leah Remini Attends Danny Masterson’s Sentencing After Showing Support for His Victims
The 'That '70s Show' actor was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on two forcible rape charges
Leah Remini continues to show her support for the victims involved in Danny Masterson's trial.
The Emmy winner and ex-Scientologist was present in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday as Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on two of three forcible rape charges.
Before the judge revealed the sentence, three victims read impact statements in front of a packed courtroom that also included Masterson's wife, actress Bijou Phillips.
Phillips was noticeably distraught during Thursday's hearing, for which The Messenger was present in the courtroom. She cried off and on as victims read their statements and the judge denied Masterson's request for a new trial.
Back in May, Masterson was found guilty of rape after a jury deliberated for eight days.
Soon after the verdict was announced, Remini showed her support for his victims and praised those who helped convict the actor.
"The two guilty verdicts in the rape trial of celebrity Scientologist Danny Masterson are a relief," Remini wrote in a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter). "While it is up to them to decide whether they are satisfied with this verdict, I am relieved that Danny Masterson is facing some justice after over two decades of brutal sexual violence with no criminal consequences."
