Kristin Chenoweth Reveals How ‘The Queen of Versailles’ Is Making Her Broadway Return Unforgettable (Exclusive)
'I'm just going to tell her story... and she's allowing me to do so,' the Tony-winning actress tells The Messenger about Jackie Siegel
To perfect her latest role, Kristin Chenoweth is going straight to the queen.
After more than seven years away from a Broadway show, the Tony winner is returning to the stage for a project based on the documentary movie, The Queen of Versailles.
But long before opening night hits, Chenoweth is finding some support from titular star Jackie Siegel.
"Getting to know Jackie and her family has been very helpful and actually, they're very, very lovely people," she exclusively told The Messenger. "I'm also one of the producers and I really want to nail the assignment."
Over the weekend, Siegel posted a photo with Chenoweth from rehearsals. While sharing behind-the-scenes images, Siegel called the experience "one of the best days of my life."
"It's so good!" she wrote on Instagram Saturday. "Kristin Chenoweth was amazing! (When isn’t she?) We got to hear all the songs from the first act. The score and cast were incredible! I can’t believe there is a musical about my life!!!"

The positive reviews are meaningful for Chenoweth, who has tried her best to develop a relationship with Siegel and her family.
"We do text," Chenoweth said. "I wanted to get to know her because as much as this story is about entitlement, it's also about heartbreak and looking at things from a different perspective and without judgment, which is so easy for us to do today."
The actress continued, "I'm just going to tell her story and that story is layered and she's allowing me to do so. And she has the biggest heart. She loves her kids so much. She loves animals so much. She has cockatoos and toucans and pink flamingos and four dogs and seven kids. She's got a full life and she's lived life to its fullest."
While Chenoweth is deeply focused on her Broadway return, she's also teaming up with Center Stage with Chronic Migraine to share how BOTOX has helped her manage her pain.
Starting at the age of 25, Chenoweth said she would experience migraines in between her performances. It wasn't until many years later when the actress changed doctors and heard about BOTOX helping manage Chronic Migraines.
"I encourage everybody to talk to your doctor and see if this is an option for you because it was a game changer for me," she said. "When a little girl is sitting out in the audience that's never seen you before and your name's above the title, you don't want to disappoint."
