‘Vanderpump Rules’ Alum Kristen Doute Details ‘Terrifying’ Miscarriage With Boyfriend Luke Broderick

'I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this,' Kristen Doute began in an episode of her 'Love, Sex and What Else Matters' podcast

Kristen Doute is sharing her "terrifying" experience after suffering a miscarriage.

"I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this. I know so many women have been through this," the former Vanderpump Rules star said on a recent episode of her and boyfriend Luke Broderick's Sex, Love and What Else Matters podcast.

The former Bravo personality went on to explain that the pregnancy was not viable because it was considered a blighted ovum, which is also known as an anembryonic pregnancy. According to Cleveland Clinic, an anembryonic pregnancy happens when a "fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining but does not grow into an embryo," which "causes a miscarriage in the first trimester of pregnancy."

Doute continued, "You always think, 'What's wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?' And my doctor and my friends have told me, inside and out, up and down, there's no cause. They don't know why."

Despite the "unfortunate" experience, the VPR alum went on to say, "The only silver lining, the fact that we've now been digesting this for the last four or five days, is that I know once Luke and I are past this, we can try again. We were so, so lucky, because it could have gone a different way for me at my age. I haven't gone through IVF, I haven't frozen my eggs, I haven't done anything. I just think there's something in God's plan.

"We're very hopeful to have a very healthy pregnancy the next time around."

Doute and Broderick met in June last year at a mutual friend's wedding — the same month the reality star and now-ex Alex Menache split after two years together. The pair confirmed their romance in December, one month after launching their Sex, Love and What Else Matters podcast.

The James Mae founder has previously opened up about wanting kids with Broderick.

"We've been together just over a year, but I always tell him it feels like 10 [years], but in a good way," the Michigan native exclusively told The Messenger in September. "I think we've taken it so slowly as friends, to best friends to dating, to being in a relationship, and we're making sure that we have, I don't know, the same parenting styles and [asking questions like], 'Where do we want to raise a family?' And just all the really important questions that can sort of dissipate when you fall hard and fall fast."

She added, "So I know that we have an amazing future ahead of us, full of a couple of kids and a lot of love and a lot of really cool entrepreneurial businesses and endeavors."
