Pioneering German electronic band Kraftwerk is going back to the future with a career-spanning series of shows this spring at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their fourth album, Autobahn, the band will kick-off a nine-night residency playing that album on May 21, and performing the following seven albums -- Radio-Activity (1975) , Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991), and Tour de France Soundtrack (2003) – on the subsequent evenings. They’ll conclude the residency with a best-of set on May 30.

A pre-sale for tickets to the engagement began on Wednesday with the general on-sale on Thursday.

The quartet, still led by co-founder Ralf Hütter, was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the early influence category in 2021.

Aside from influencing the ‘80s synth-pop movement, which included such acts as Depeche Mode, The Human League, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and others, Kraftwerk has influenced post-punk, hip-hop, house music, drum and bass and electronica. Songs featuring samples or interpolations of Kraftwerk’s music include Afrika Bambaataa & the Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock” and David Bowie’s “V-2 Schneider.”

A sped-up version of Kraftwerk’s “Electric Café” was also featured as the theme song for the reoccurring Saturday Night Live sketch “Sprockets” featuring Mike Myers that parodied German TV.
