The New Day member told The Messenger it's only a 'matter of time' before the company heads to his home country

When it comes to WWE's mindset about taking the show on the road, it's a new day, yes it is.

Last year, the company hosted Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, and brought Backlash to Puerto Rico earlier this year. Just last month, WWE announced Elimination Chamber will be heading to Australia next year, the first Premium Live Event in the Outback.

Given the globe-trotting nature of some of WWE's biggest shows these days, Kofi Kingston has an idea in mind.

"I'm trying to go to Ghana, West Africa," Kingston exclusively told The Messenger Thursday at the Boys & Girls Club National Youth of the Year Gala. "I know we had a tryout in Nigeria. So we're getting close, we're getting close. I think it's just a matter of time."

Indeed, WWE hosted a multi-day open tryout in Nigeria in February, open to citizens of any African country.

Kingston, who was born in Ghana, remarked on how the company has not only emphasized its global reach, but prioritized sending its top talent to those locations.

"It's actually amazing how much we have broadened our horizons in the past five years or so," he said. "We've been traveling all over the world for a very, very long time with WWE, but we have not brought the highest level. That's really what we've been doing in the past five years."

If the time comes for a show in West Africa, you can expect the former WWE Champion to put on a show.

"There are a lot of people all over the world who are big fans," Kingston said, "and I'm glad we actually get to bring the product to them in the highest form because they deserve to see it."
