Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband Ordered to Pay Her $2.6 Million: Report
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 and the singer and talk show host filed for divorce seven years later
Kelly Clarkson's former husband, Brandon Blackstock, has been ordered to pay her back millions of dollars for high-profile gigs booked on her behalf when he worked as her manager.
A labor commissioner in California made the ruling in favor of Clarkson, who married Blackstock in 2013 before filing for divorce in 2020, per court docs obtained by TMZ. The commissioner determined that Blackstock, as Clarkson's manager, wrongfully booked deals for the American Idol alum during their partnership.
(The Messenger reached out to Clarkson's rep and Blackstock's company Starstruck Entertainment for comment.)
He landed her appearances on The Voice (where he made $1.98 million), a hosting gig for the Billboard Music Awards (where he profited $93.30) and partnerships with Norwegian Cruise Line and Wayfair.
The issue is, according to the commissioner, that he should not have booked the jobs because agents are the only ones who can legally get jobs for their clients. So, he's said to owe her $2,641,374. He does get to keep the money he made after helping her land her daytime talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Blackstock plans to challenge the decision.
