Keke Palmer gets revenge on A man who wronged her in the new music video for her song "Serious." In the run-up to the video's release, she shared her inspiration behind the single.

"I wrote 'Serious' for the [Big Boss] Deluxe album as a universal anthem about celebrating your self-worth and not settling for less," said Palmer in a press release.

"It's a testament to knowing what it means to choose yourself and live in that truth." ("Serious" will appear on Palmer's new visual album Big Boss: Deluxe.)

In the music video, Palmer is dumped roadside. When she wakes up and makes her way back home, she then drugs her fictional former beau, drags his weightless body, interrogates him and gets her revenge.

"Made your bed now you laid up alone," she sings. "You said you love me then showed me you don't/You can't be serious, serious, serious/More like delirious."

The music video comes just a few weeks after Palmer filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Darius Jackson. The Messenger obtained legal documents in which Palmer claims Jackson was physically abusive towards her on Nov. 5.

"Darius trespassed into my home without my knowledge or consent, threatened me, then physically attacked me — lunging for my neck, striking me, throwing me over the couch, and stealing my phone when I told him I was going to call the police," she said. (At the time, The Messenger attempted to reach out to representatives for Jackson.)

She was granted a temporary restraining order that mandates Jackson must stay at least 100 yards away from Palmer, their 8-month-old child. Jackson is not allowed to have visitation with Leodis. (In her filing, Palmer also checked a box indicating she believes Jackson may abduct her child and she does not want him to have access to their child's medical, dental, mental health, school or extracurricular records.)

A hearing is set for Dec. 5 to determine further action.
