Jon Cryer Doesn’t Have ‘Any Anger’ Toward Charlie Sheen After ‘Two and a Half Men’ Drama

More than 12 years after being fired from 'Two and a Half Men,' Charlie Sheen can now be seen in Chuck Lorre's latest comedy, 'Bookie'

Jon Cryer is reflecting on his relationship with Two and a Half Men co-star Charlie Sheen as the latter returns to the small screen.

In a candid new interview, Cryer reacted to the news that Sheen reconnected with their sitcom co-creator Chuck Lorre more than 10 years after being fired from the CBS comedy.

"[Charlie's] doing better now, and I am glad for that, and I'm really glad that he and Chuck have reconciled," Cryer shared with People in an interview published Tuesday. "I don't have any anger toward him anymore, because the show took the rabbit hook, and it's exasperating dealing with somebody who insists on blowing up their own life. But I'm really hopeful that he can find happiness and forgive himself because I think that's the biggest thing is if he can forgive himself and really move on."

Cryer worked with Sheen on Two and a Half Men for eight seasons following its 2003 debut. In 2011, Warner Bros. Television decided to fire Sheen partly based on his controversial statements on social media (with Ashton Kutcher taking over in a new role).

Despite Sheen's critical remarks about Lorre online, Cryer believes his former boss was more sad than angry about the tweets.

"There was never a rage on Chuck's part that Charlie was doing the things that he was doing," he shared. "It was just sadness because they were friends and he was sad that their friendship had taken this turn."

Cryer also said he had a short conversation with Lorre recently where he confirmed their reconciliation. According to the actor, the TV producer "was just astonished and happy" to be in a better place with Sheen.

"They had been really good friends before the breakdown," Cryer explained, "and he was really happy that he could re-establish that."

Sheen can now be seen playing himself in Lorre's latest comedy, Bookie.
