The Grammy-nominated documentary Music, Money, Madness... Jimi Hendrix In Maui will screen Sept. 20 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood with all ticket proceeds going to a number of Maui fire relief funds.

Following the special 7 p.m. screening, the film’s co-producers Janie Hendrix and John McDermott will participate in a Q&A session.

The film documents the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 1970 trip to Maui.

In response to the recent fires on Maui, Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and TCL Chinese Theatre will donate all ticket proceeds to the Maui Food Bank, Hawaii Community Foundation-Maui Strong Fund, and Maui Humane Society. They also plan to launch an appeal to Hendrix fans around the world who can’t attend the screening to consider donating to those impacted by the Maui fires.

"Jimi loved Hawaii!” Hendrix’s sister and Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix said in a statement. “His time there proved to be historic and really rather epic. He was also a humanitarian in his own right, and very concerned about the human condition. We at Experience Hendrix share that concern. This screening of the film of Jimi's live concert in Maui is a profound opportunity for him to continue what he started there all those years ago, and at the same time help the people of Maui who have suffered such a tremendous loss. We're honored to be able to dedicate the proceeds of the TCL Chinese Theatre screening to relief efforts, and we hope fans who love Jimi will show their love and support by giving."

Hendrix’s Maui performance sprung out of the ill-fated film Rainbow Bridge, whose director Chuck Wein devised a plan to have the Jimi Hendrix Experience perform at the lower slope of the Haleakala volcano, where a stage was constructed, and the audience was reportedly arranged by their astrological signs.

The Blu-ray version of Music, Money, Madness… Jimi Hendrix in Maui is available in a box set with The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live in Maui two-CD/three-LP audio recording of both July 30, 1970 performances by the band.
