Jill Duggar Dillard Calls Out Dad Jim Bob, Claims ‘You Treat Me Worse’ Than ‘Pedophile Brother’ Josh
Jill previously accused Josh Duggar of molesting her; although he was never charged, he was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography in 2021
Jill Duggar Dillard is detailing her strained relationship with her family. Appearing on Tuesday's installment of Good Morning America, Jill opened up to Juju Chang about her brother, Josh Duggar, whom she previously accused of sexual assault.
He never faced charges for her claims; however, in December 2021 he was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography and sentenced to over 12 years in prison.
"Watching the way that my parents [Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar] protected my brother, it's still hard to swallow," said Jill. "There's like one point where I call my dad about it, and I say, 'You treat me worse than you treat my brother, my pedophile brother.'"
She revealed that she's tried to contact Josh "one time, just because I didn't know what to do." She had sent him a handmade Christmas card but it was returned to her.
Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, also opened up about their new book, Counting the Cost.
Asked what "the cost" is, Jill explained, "Closeness in relationships with my family, that's been one of the biggest costs that I've seen in trying to have healthy boundaries."
Jill's controversial parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, are known for practicing IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles).

"One of the main themes of the book is this toxic patriarchy," said Derick. "This idea that parents maintain control of their children into adulthood."
Jill and Derick claimed they were subject to ruthless treatment from her father when they tried to leave TLC's reality series 19 Kids and Counting. The show premiered in September 2008 and went off the air in 2015 after allegations that Josh molested his younger sisters surfaced. A spinoff, Counting On, showed how the family navigated the scandal; it ended in 2020.
Jim Bob allegedly convinced Jill to sign a piece of paper about her appearance on the reality show the night before she married Derick. However, she claims he didn't show her the contract for months.
"I feel like I was tricked into it," alleged Jill, who starred in over 200 episodes and 24 specials of the reality series, which also aired her and Derick's wedding, allegedly without getting paid.
"Even though the show soon after that was named Jill & Jessa Counting On, we still weren't receiving income, even at that point," Jill claimed. She said she ultimately got a check for $175,000, but that didn't match the money she brought in.
Derick reiterated that he believes the contract was fraudulent.
"I still believe that. I stand behind that. It was a contract that we wouldn't have agreed to based on the terms that were given," he said.
Now, Jill's relationship with her parents is still tense. Though they came to visit her after she welcomed her and Derick's baby last July, they haven't spoken much since.
"I'll see my mom as sister get togethers for brunch or birthdays," Jill said. "Dad's relationships are a little more complicated."
She confirmed that they are "for sure" estranged, adding, "Some family members have reached out and said, 'If you're trying to reconcile, this is not the way to go about it, writing a book.' I was like, 'Well, that's not my reason for writing the book.'"
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar released a statement to ABC News and said, "We've aimed to deal honorably with our children, our finances, and other endeavors. While imperfect, it is our intent and desire to live a life that honors Christ."
They also added to the outlet that they don't believe "the best way to resolve conflicts" is through the media nor a public forum so would not comment any further.
