Jeremy Allen White Will Watch ‘High School Musical’ for the First Time Under One Condition
'Sorry, Zac. I will. I will watch them,' White said before laying out a specific condition
Jeremy Allen White has never seen his Iron Claw co-star Zac Efron's most famous role, and at this point, there's only one way he'd get wrestled into it.
The Bear star, who plays Efron's brother in A24's new biopic about the legendary Von Erich wrestling family, revealed in an interview with Variety's Just for Variety podcast that he has not seen any of the three High School Musical films that launched Efron's career.
"I haven't seen those films. I have not seen them," White admitted to host Marc Malkin. "Sorry, Zac. I will. I will watch them."
White then laid out a condition: "Only if Zac holds my hand through them," he joked. "That's how we'll get it done."
When Malkin suggested a High School Musical watch party for a charitable cause, White agreed: "Just film Zac and I, fingers interlaced in a theater, watching the three... it's three films?"
Upon learning the full scope of the HSM universe, including stage musicals, books, live shows, a television series and more, White clarified, "I'll only watch the ones that Zac is a part of. That's a part of the deal. But yeah, I'd be up for that, raising money."

White may not have seen the films yet, but that didn't stop High School Musical from following Efron on The Iron Claw set. During a Q&A after the film's New York City premiere on Nov. 13, Stanley Simons, who plays the youngest Von Erich brother, revealed he burst into some classic HSM tunes for Efron during a party scene.
"Sometimes you gotta' sing High School Musical songs to Zac Efron," Simons shrugged. "That was fantastic," White recalled.
Efron complimented his younger co-star on his work ("You crushed it!") before pointing out that Simons also accompanied himself on guitar.
"Yeah, I learned the chords," Simons chuckled before Efron admitted, "I turned beet red at that party."
The actors further bonded playing the Von Erich brothers, doing nothing but, in Efron's words, "eating, training and wrestling."
The Iron Claw is in theaters now.
