Mayim Bialik Announces She Will Not Be Returning to Host ‘Jeopardy!’
'As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news,' the actress shared after co-hosting the game show since 2021
Mayim Bialik will no longer be one of the faces of Jeopardy! alongside Ken Jennings. She announced the news on Instagram Friday.
"As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news," she began her message. "Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!"
"I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family," Bialik continued. "For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants writers, staff and crew of America's Favorite Quiz Show, thank you."
The update comes after the Big Bang Theory actress stepped away from her Celebrity Jeopardy! hosting duties amid the SAG-AFTRA and writers' strikes earlier this year.
"Mayim is choosing to stand with the actors like she did the writers and won't cross the picket lines," a source previously told The Messenger of her absence. "She hopes to return to Jeopardy! as soon as the strike has been resolved."
The insider added, "She's choosing to stand with her union, and because of that, she was told it is unlikely she will return for the rest of the year, even if the strike is resolved before then."
Bialik and Jennings have co-hosted the game show since longtime host Alex Trebek's death in September 2021 (after former executive producer Mike Richards' departure from the role within a week).
