Jeezy is sharing his vulnerable experience of being sexually assaulted at a young age, and how to move forward after fractured relationships, including his ongoing divorce from Jeannie Mai. In a conversation with actress Nia Long titled "I Might Forgive... But I Don't Forget," Long asked Jeezy about an "activation moment of trauma."

He recalled being left with a babysitter, an older woman, when he was a child, sharing that she was "touching and doing things to me that don't normally happen to kids."

Asked by Long if he was molested, he said, "Right, basically," adding, "I was introduced to sex at a very young age."

Later in the conversation, the actress and rapper discussed relationships and "the dismantlement of the Black family."

Jeezy shared that he "1,000 percent agree[s]" with Long that if the other person is not willing to do the "deep work, when you stay, you have to make yourself smaller."

The two discussed loving people "from afar," and Jeezy referenced Long's comment of loving "people right where they are."

"What happens when you're a man and you want nothing more than that, and that's not what you're getting on the other side, and there are kids involved," he said. "There is somewhat love there and you understand that somebody else might have their thing, but they're not taking this journey with you of healing. I think love is two people healing together and giving each other the space to do so."

Jeezy filed for divorce from his wife Jeannie Mai in September, stating in court docs obtained by The Messenger that their marriage is "irretrievably broken" and "there is no hope for reconciliation." The two married in March 2021 and welcomed daughter Monaco in January 2022.

Asked by Long about what led him to file for divorce, Jeezy said, "Integrity intact, I could never say anything that would not honor somebody. But I can tell you that this has not been an easy journey. I can tell you that I'm saddened, I'm disappointed. I can tell you that I'm uneasy. But again, God has put me in a different path, and that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself, and to love myself, and to be in the best situation that I can thrive as someone who's been through all the things I've been through."

"I don't like to fail at anything," he continued, also revealing during the conversation that he and Mai went to therapy to try and work things out. "I can only be responsible for myself. I can only do what I can do. I can't expect someone else to do ... "

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.
