Jeezy Says ‘Informal’ Arrangement With Ex Jeannie Mai Is ‘Stressful’ for Daughter

Young Jeezy filed for divorce from Jeannie Mai in September; the two wed in March 2021 and welcomed daughter Monaco in January 2022

Young Jeezy and Jeannie Mai's custody agreement is negatively impacting their child, the rapper alleged in new court documents. Jeezy, who initially filed for divorce on Sept. 15, requested a motion for a temporary hearing over custody of their daughter Monaco, who turns 2 next month, in Georgia's Superior Court of Fulton County on Thursday.

In the papers obtained by The Messenger, the "Put On" rapper stated, via his attorneys, that Monaco has been "temporarily" living with The Real alum in Los Angeles since the split, and the exes have talked about custody on "an informal basis."

Jeezy said that he and Jeannie have reached an agreement, through communication between their attorneys, through the end of the year. However, it "is becoming increasingly less feasible."

"The lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful for the child," he continued. He alleged that the agreement also "has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent's role and rights when the child is in their respective custody."

He insisted that he doesn't think Jeannie "is acting maliciously" or trying to fracture his relationship with Monaco, but added that she "has acted as a gatekeeper" when "exercising parenting time with the child as well as in regard to" his rights as Monaco's father.

He alleged that Jeannie's actions are "causing confusion and tension" and "is working to stifle the development" of his relationship with his daughter.

He is asking the court to intervene to help with a temporary and formal custody agreement that keeps Monaco's "best interests" in mind. He said he believes the agreement will help "reduce strife" between him and Jeannie, "and help move this case to a final resolution."
