Jeannie Mai has spoken out for the first time since her husband Young Jeezy filed for divorce last month. The Real alumna posted a handwritten message via Instagram late Wednesday night that read: "Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect, to heal."

She kept the caption simple with a black heart Emoji.

Before this new post, her last upload on the social media platform was an image of her strolling the streets of New York City. Jeannie shared the picture on Sept. 13, two days before news broke that Jeezy filed for divorce.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the two had already separated by that point.

The publication also reported at the time that Jeezy is seeking joint custody of their 1.5-year-old daughter, Monaco. The former couple, who wed in March 2021, also has a prenuptial agreement in place.

The "Put On" rapper claimed their marriage is "irretrievably broken" and "there is no hope for reconciliation," according to his divorce filings obtained by The Messenger.

It's not clear what caused the split. In June, Jeannie told The Messenger in an exclusive interview that she and Jeezy were  "definitely talking about" having a second child together.

"Practicing at it is fun," she continued at the time. "We'll just see how life hands us this blessing, because it's definitely... I feel like having a baby is not something you should ever just expect. It's something you're gifted with and I'm ready for that gift."
