Jamie Dornan says a scary interaction with a stalker came as a result of his Fifty Shades of Grey fame.

After starring in the popular screen adaptations of the erotic novel, Dornan "tried to put walls up" around the franchise’s rabid fans. The protection was for himself, but also his wife and three daughters, he tells Independent.

"I’m pretty good at just blocking any of the noise associated with whatever fandom is – not letting it affect me, or more importantly my family," the 41-year-old shared.

The actor reveals that just before COVID, he and his family faced a "stalker-type situation" that nearly but his family in danger.

"That was f–king scary. Someone turned up at my house when my kids were there. … The more I can block that out, the better it is for me and the family."

Following the staggering success of Fifty Shades – and the attention that came along with it – Dornan says that he is now looks for balance when it comes to picking high-profile projects in order to maintain a "normal life." He does not seem to shut down the prospect of tackling another franchise, but does not seem to be interested in taking it on any time soon.

"There are obviously other jobs that bring insane scrutiny, like superhero stuff, or f–king James Bond – any of that stuff. I’ve done pretty well to avoid that sort of sh– so far."
