Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis briefly dated Warren Beatty in the mid-70s but got turned off by the actor because he was self-absorbed, according to the author of the upcoming book Jackie: Public, Private, Secret.

"[Beatty was] consumed by his own career and movies," author J. Randy Taraborrelli explained in an excerpt published by People magazine. "All he wanted to do was talk about directors and producers and films, and she just wasn't into any of that."

The two began seeing each other when Kennedy was working as a book editor and reached out to Beatty about the possibility of writing a memoir, per the book excerpt. After they began dating, a friend reportedly asked Kennedy about the actor's infamous bedroom skills, to which she allegedly responded, "Oh, he's fine. Men can only do so much, anyway."

The relationship didn't last long, according to Taraborrelli. "When it was over, Jackie said it lasted two weeks longer than it should have," he noted.

Beatty went on to marry Annette Bening in 1992, and the pair share four children together. Kennedy spent the last 12 years of her life with Maurice Tempelsman, a diamond merchant, before she died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1994.
