Inside ‘Naked Attraction’: The Viral British Full-Frontal Nudity Dating Show That Just Premiered in the US

Naked Attraction is a show that takes real balls. While the bawdy dating series — which features singles choosing a partner based solely on their slowly-revealed nude body parts — technically premiered in the UK in 2016, it was only added (in part) to Max in the US last week.

So, that means a entire new crop of viewers have been left shocked, titillated, often offended and always amazed at the show's insane premise.

Naked Attraction is on everybody's lips — so let's break down what to expect from the show you probably shouldn't watch with your parents.

What is the premise of Naked Attraction?

One clothed person is faced with six naked prospective suitors hidden in chambers. Their bodies are revealed from the feet up, with one naked contestant eliminated every round.

Once it's down to just two naked bodies, the clothed person also gets naked before making their final decision. Yes, that involves full-frontal nudity.

A winner is then picked to go on a — thankfully not naked — date to see if love can blossom in the real world.

Does Naked Attraction air uncensored?

Yes, the show doesn't leave anything to the imagination.

Who hosts Naked Attraction?

The show is hosted by Anna Richardson, who has also hosted other various UK shows like Secret Eaters and Supershoppers.

While she might not be a household name in the US (yet), you might recognize her former partner.

Richardson dated former Great British Bake Off co-host Sue Perkins from 2014 to 2021.

What are viewers saying about Naked Attraction?

Well, plenty.

"Naked Attraction on MAX is a very interesting dating show," one supportive viewer wrote. "It shows the diversity of human bodies and teaches you about human sexuality, anatomy, and acceptance. Only puritans will be shocked. After a few episodes, it won’t shock you. We all have bodies, don’t we?"

However, not everybody has been as free-thinking.

"I'm sorry, but this is just grotesque," one outraged person commented, while another wrote, Looks like #Max needs to go on a buying spree. This is what they’re running."

The show has also induced the ire of conservative watchdog group the Parents Television Council (PTC), who said in a statement Monday, "Naked Attraction should not exist on the Max streaming platform, and HBO should immediately remove this exploitative, pornographic program."

PTC's statement concluded, "And in a new low for HBO, the show fully exploits its own participants, somehow convincing them that their exploitation for the purpose of dating is right and good."

And yet, Naked Attraction has already found its share of celebrity supporters, including The View co-host Sunny Hostin, who discussed watching the show with husband Emmanuel during Hot Topics on Monday.
