Ice-T Reveals Why His 7-Year-Old Is Allowed to Listen To All Of His Rap Albums (Exclusive)

Ice-T isn't afraid of his daughter Chanel listening to a little "Cop Killer." The Body Count co-founder and hip-hop legend doesn't mind his seven-year-old listening to his iconic discography for a very simple reason.

"She doesn't understand profanity yet," he exclusively told The Messenger while discussing his recent partnership with Sanofi for a campaign to warn people about the dangers of the flu. "Kids don't understand those words until you tell them they're bad. So she doesn't understand what's going on."

Ice-T's theory isn't just a hypothetical concept, either. He's already been through the process with his son Tracy Jr., who is now 31.

"My son grew up in a hip-hop environment, gangsta rap environment," Ice-T explained, "and I just taught him that there's an adult world and there is a child world. I didn't say 'Oh, you curse, you're going to hell.'"

He further laid out the specific dichotomy he presented for his son, which he now shares with Chanel.

"We're adults," he said. "They smoke weed, they drink, they can use these words. You can use these words when you can drive a car. Up to that point, you live in a child world. When you step out of the child world into the adult world, you pay your own bills."

Any skeptics of Ice-T's parenting style with Chanel only need to look at how things turned out with Tracy Jr..

"My son was able to grow up around it but never curse," he revealed. "Never say any of those words. He knew how to edit it. So today, he's 30 years old, and he will not use profanity in front of his father out of respect."
