‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Trailer Promises Bloody War Between Dragons
'There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons,' Rhaenys Targaryen warns in a new teaser
While the first season of House of the Dragon featured a whole lot of set-up leading to the war of succession between Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), it looks like Season 2 is getting right to the action.
"Many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne," Alicent proclaims in a new teaser trailer. "There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons," Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) warns.
Heads are chopped off, armies are assembled and yes, dragons are ridden into battle as Rhaenyra and Alicent's forces, the Blacks and the Greens, go head to head in our first glimpse of the Game of Thrones spinoff's highly anticipated second outing.
Joining the show's cast are Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
The returning cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.
Previously announced additions are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

Set 200 years before the events of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon focuses on the silver-haired Targaryen dynasty and the brutal civil war known as the Dance of Dragons.
In Season 1, Rhaenyra was named heir to the Iron Throne by her father King Viserys (Paddy Considine). But after his death, his wife Alicent installed her son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the throne, causing a tense standoff between the two factions that culminated in the death of Rhaenyra's son Lucerys at the hands – er, jaws – of Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell)'s dragon Vhagar.
House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres summer 2024 on HBO and Max. Season 1 is now streaming on Max.
