Guns N’ Roses has postponed their show that was set for Saturday at Busch Stadium in St. Louis due to illness. The Pretenders were supposed to open the show.

“Gunners, the concert scheduled for St. Louis on September 9 has been postponed due to illness,” reads a message from the band’s official account on X, formerly Twitter. “Hang on to your tickets – fans who are unable to make the rescheduled date will be eligible for a refund. Thank you for the support 🌹”

It’s not specified who in the band has the illness or what they’re suffering from.

The next show on the band’s tour is Tuesday (Sept. 12) in Knoxville, Tenn.

Guns N’ Roses has a checkered past with St. Louis. At the band’s July 1991 show at the Riverport Amphitheatre (now known as the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre), singer Axl Rose became angry with a photographer and called for security to confiscate his camera. Unsatisfied with the response, he jumped into the crowd and attempted to act himself. The concert was shut down and unhappy fans responded by tearing out chairs and throwing the band’s gear from the stage.

Rose was charged with inciting a riot, but he wasn’t arrested for nearly a year, since the band was touring overseas. A judge later dismissed the charges, ruling that Rose did not directly incite the riot.

GN’R was banned from St. Louis in the wake of the incident and in the liner notes of its 1991 albums, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, it included the words “F--- You, St. Louis!”

The band finally returned to St. Louis in 2017 for the first time since the riot.
