Grimes has sued former partner Elon Musk over a matter involving their three children. The musician (real name Claire Boucher) filed a "petition to establish parental relationship" of the three kids she shares with Musk.

The filing was made Sept. 29 in a California court, The Messenger can confirm.

In essence, the petition is meant to determine the legal parents of a child when the couple in question is unmarried.

The petition did not indicate Grimes requested child support or custody rights, according to The San Francisco Standard, who was first to report the news. It appears Musk has yet to respond.

The Messenger has reached out to reps and attorneys for Grimes and Musk for comment.

Grimes and Musk share son X Æ A-Xii, 3, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl (aka Y), born in December 2021, and a young son named Techno Mechanicus (aka Tau).

The couple split in September 2021 after three years together.

Last month, Grimes called out Shivon Zilis — Musk's former partner and mother to two of his children — and Musk for a lack of access to Tau.

"Tell Shivon to unblock me," Grimes tweeted, "and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer."

However, days later, Grimes revealed she and Zilis had apparently buried the hatchet.

"This wasn't her fault, plz don't be angry at her!" Grimes urged her followers. "We respect each other a lot and we're excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together."
