‘Golden Bachelor’ Star Gerry Turner Weighs in on Potential ‘Golden Bachelor in Paradise’

Gerry Turner, who's currently searching for his second great love on 'The Golden Bachelor,' has officially made his stance on a tropical spinoff clear

You won't be finding Gerry Turner on the beaches of Mexico anytime soon. Amid a hotly-discussed inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor, whispers are already starting about who could be the lead of The Golden Bachelorette, if it were to be greenlit by ABC. Following the trend of the tentpole franchise, then, would that open us up to a Golden Bachelor in Paradise, in which we'd watch our favorite septuagenarians frolic amongst a tropical locale?

Well, according to Turner, who led The Golden Bachelor through its first season, it isn't something he's interested in. When asked about the topic by Entertainment Weekly, Turner replied: "I just don't know if that's something I would support, but I do know there's an awful lot of individuals from The Golden Bachelor that would be fantastic on a beach."

"They would have the time of their lives!" he added.

Turner isn't the only Bachelor Nation star weighing in on the idea. Wells Adams, who bartends typical seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, told The Hollywood Reporter he "desperately" wants a Golden Bachelor in Paradise.

"I think anything’s possible," he said. "Everyone’s very, very happy about the success of The Golden Bachelor. It makes sense that the next thing would be Golden Bachelorette and, ipso sexo, a Golden Bachelor in Paradise."

The premiere episode of The Golden Bachelor was viewed by an audience of more than 11 million people — so the spinoff makes sense for Adams, who already has an aesthetic planned out.

"I’ve got the whole thing planned out and how it should look," he continued. "It needs to happen in Florida at Del Boca Vista [from Seinfeld]. Everyone needs to drive around in golf carts, dates at shuffleboard courts. I need to be making drinks but also have Mylanta on the side. I can see it all in my mind’s eye right now."

Bachelor in Paradise is currently in its ninth season, with new episodes airing Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC — right after new episodes of The Golden Bachelor.
