Geraldo Rivera is delving into his complicated feelings on presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Rivera appeared as a guest on Thursday's podcast episode of Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat and got into a discussion with host Meghan McCain about Kennedy's chances in the upcoming election. Kennedy, who is a vocal critic of COVID vaccines, was temporarily kicked off Instagram in 2021 for sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus and its vaccinations.

"RFK Jr. is polling pretty well...I have a lot of friends that really like him," McCain began. "I don't totally get it, the anti-vaxx stuff is really scary to me. Why do you think he has such a strong appeal right now, and do you think he could be a real spoiler?"

"Coming from the Kennedy dynasty, that's not Swiss cheese, that is really very powerful," Rivera said. "I remember how nice to me John F. Kennedy Jr. used to be, when he had George Magazine. So, there's a lot of mystique."

The television journalist added that Kennedy's vaccine stance is "crazy" and "very troubling."

He continued, "He's a very formidable, intelligent, attractive, youngish [candidate] compared to the other guys. Don't count him out because he could unsettle every smart person's predictions and do quite well."

Rivera concluded that, "aside from the vaccine crazy," he would feel "comfortable" with Kennedy as president.

"I think he's got the life experience, and even though he's estranged from the family I think they'd rally around him if he continues to talk sense [instead] of this crazy vaccine stuff," he said.

Four of Kennedy's siblings — former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II, Rory Kennedy and Kerry Kennedy — denounced his run for president in a statement released Oct. 9.

“Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment," the family said. "...We denounce his candidacy and believe it to be perilous for our country."
