‘Frasier’ Revival on Paramount+ Cast, Release Date, and Everything to Know
So where are Niles and Daphne?
Frasier Crane is returning and toasting beers again in Boston. The Frasier revival was first announced in 2021, and now the series is officially returning in October. Kelsey Grammer, who originated the character on Cheers and starred in the eponymous CBS spinoff, is leading the show once more as Frasier returns to Boston for his "third act."
When we first met Frasier Crane in the third season of Cheers, he was a practicing psychiatrist. After his romantic relationships with Diane (Shelley Long) and Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth) fell to pieces, Frasier moved to Seattle to take care of his father (John Mahoney) and be closer to his brother, Niles (David Hyde Pierce). He took over the Seattle airwaves with his own advice radio show alongside his producer, Roz (Peri Gilpin).
It's been almost 20 years since the original show ended, and now he finds himself back on the East Coast, looking at a job in academia and spending some quality time with his now-adult son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
Frasier returns to TV in October on Paramount+. Here's everything we know about the revival so far.
'Frasier' release date
TLDR: Frasier premieres on Thursday, Oct. 12.
THE DETAILS: Frasier will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, Oct. 12 on Paramount+. CBS will also broadcast the two premiere episodes on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 9:15 PM ET/PT. New episodes will drop on Paramount+ every Thursday in the U.S. and Canada, and drop Friday in international markets.

'Frasier' cast
Kelsey Grammer, of course, returns as the titular Frasier Crane, but so far he is the only original cast member to be announced for the new series. We are hoping with Frasier moving back to Boston that there will be room for not only Frasier characters to return, but Frasier's friends from Cheers as well.
Main Cast
- Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane: Frasier is a renowned psychiatrist who used to run his own advice radio show in Seattle. Now he's back in Boston and entering the world of academia.
- Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy: Freddy is Frasier's now-adult son who is also living in Boston.
- Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan: Alan is Frasier's old college buddy who is now a university professor.
- Toks Olagundoye as Olivia: Olivia also works at the university and is head of the university's psychology department.
- Jess Salgueiro as Eve: Eve is Freddy's roommate
- Anders Keith as David: David is Niles' and Daphne's son and Frasier's nephew.
'Frasier' plot
TLDR: Frasier returns to Boston after almost three decades in Seattle to begin a new life adventure.
THE DETAILS: Frasier is hanging up his advice line and moving into academia. He'll be in the same city as his son and nephew, and his old favorite bar from his Cheers days. According to the series' official description, the new location will also help the former radio host tick a few more things off his bucket list. "The new series follows Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston, Massachusetts, with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill."
'Frasier' trailer
The full-length trailer for the series reveals that Frasier Crane has not changed much, but also introduces us to Freddie, his roommate and Frasier's new Boston colleagues.
'Frasier' episodes
The revival season will consist of 10 half-hour episodes.
Will Niles, Daphne, or Roz be in the revival?
David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin have not been confirmed to be part of the reboot, but you can't count out a possible cameo from any of them. Grammer told People in November 2022 that Pierce had declined to play Niles again, but Pierce had told Vulture in June of the same year that he'd be willing to do it for the right reasons. Time will tell if the producers found a worthy reason to bring the rest of the Crane family or Roz back into the fold.
'Frasier' filming location
While the show is set in Boston, the revival was filmed in front of a live audience in Los Angeles during the winter and spring of 2023.
'Frasier' creative team
The new series will be run by Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces). Grammar also serves as executive producer with Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon.
Cheers co-creator and legendary TV director James Burrows directs the first two episodes of the season.
Where to watch 'Frasier'
The revival will release new episodes every Thursday on Paramount+. You can currently watch the original series on Hulu, Paramount+ or Pluto. Cheers is also streaming on Hulu and Paramount+. His first episode is the Season 3 premiere.
