Engaged ‘Halloweentown’ Stars Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz Reveal Favorite Parts of Wedding Planning (Exclusive)
'It's like we're putting together a production of our own,' Brown exclusively told The Messenger at 90s Con in Tampa
Halloweentown II stars Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz are hard at work putting together the ultimate treat for fans of the beloved spooky franchise: a Halloweentown wedding. Or, rather, a regular wedding of two people who happened to meet on the set of a Halloweentown movie.
The pair was on hand at 90s Con in Tampa, Fla. — which went on this weekend in compliance with certain SAG-AFTRA guidelines amid the ongoing union strikes — and shared an exclusive update with The Messenger on Saturday about their upcoming nuptials.
"It's like we're putting together a production of our own," Brown said. "We've really enjoyed taking our time and getting to choose the venue and the vendors."
Kountz was a particular fan of the cake tasting, which Brown called out as his favorite part. "Other than marrying her," Kountz added.
The couple met on the set of Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge, in which Kountz played a cute new boy named Kal whom Marnie (Brown) flirted with — to disastrous results.
Back then, they were just fast friends. "I think we hit it off right away and just had a fun time," Brown told The Messenger. "But there was nothing ever…all the romantic stuff didn't happen until years later. So it was just nice kind of getting to know each other and work together and have fun as friends then."
Around 15 years after filming the 2001 movie, Brown reached out to Kountz on Facebook. "We filmed some stuff for my YouTube channel, and then kind of started to go, 'Wait a second!'" she recalled. "And we started catching feelings, as the kids say."

Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Brown and Kountz couldn't get into specifics of the vast world of Halloweentown, but they could simply sit back and enjoy the vibes. "I love the energy," Kountz said of the convention. "Everybody's so happy to be here."
"It's always great to run into people we know and say hi to some friends, and then also see the people we grew up with, too," Brown said. "And I get to fangirl in the corner while I'm taking photos with somebody."
All four Halloweentown movies are streaming on Disney+.
90s Con — reuniting casts from television shows such as Boy Meets World, Full House, Family Matters and more — is being hosted in Tampa, Fla., through Sunday.
