Drake's new album For All The Dogs is now slated to come out Oct. 6, two weeks after the original Sept. 22 release date. The superstar rapper announced the postponement via Instagram on Friday night, explaining that he needs more time to finish the album and has to focus on his It's All A Blur Tour before he can meet the deadline.

"Okay my dilemma I am faced with is either cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show," Drake wrote on his Instagram Story. "I owe you all these memories we are building and anywhere we have missed to date we will be spinning back for sure."

He went on, "For All the Dogs October 6th. It’s only right…"

Drake is scheduled to wrap up his tour on Oct. 9 in Columbus, Ohio, and the new release date coincides with Drake's two-night stop in his Toronto hometown. Drake announced the delay hours after releasing his new song with SZA, "Slime You Out." Other previously-teased album features include Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, J. Cole and others.

Drake also revealed that For All the Dogs is being mixed by Noah "40" Shebib, who has produced many of the Toronto rapper's biggest hits, with production credits from Lil Yachty.

The forthcoming album is a companion piece to Drake's previously released debut poetry book, Titles Ruin Everything. Drake revealed the album's cover artwork, a ghostly crayon dog designed by his five-year-old son Adonis, just last month.

For All The Dogs will be Drake's eighth studio album, following Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss, his collaborative LP with 21 Savage, both released last year. If For All the Dogs hits No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart, it'll be his 12th project to achieve that feat and his 14th album to reach the Top 10.
