Desus Nice Would Love to Host ‘The Daily Show’ Full-Time If Offered (Exclusive)

Desus Nice, who recently filled in as guest host on 'The Daily Show,' told The Messenger he'd jump at the chance to be Trevor Noah's permanent replacement

A year-and-a-half after the end of Desus & Mero, Desus Nice is open to a return to late night.

The comedian co-hosted the beloved Showtime series alongside former comedy partner The Kid Mero from 2019 until 2022, when the duo split.

Now, Nice said that another late-night vacancy has him interested, exclusively telling The Messenger, "I would love to host The Daily Show if it was offered to me."

Nice guest hosted the famed political talk show the week of Oct. 23, which is an experience he gushed about — despite admitting how strenuous it was.

"It was super fun to do," Nice said. "It was a lot of work. There's so many meetings. It's like trying to put together a plane while you're in the air."

Nice explained that the show runs on a "very tight schedule" and provides "no time to flub," but gave him a creative jolt that he's been missing since Desus & Mero ended.

"I hadn't been in front of a live audience in so long." he said. "That rush when I got out there, I was like, 'Yo, I miss this.'"

The Daily Show has yet to name a replacement for Trevor Noah, who stepped down as host in December 2022 after seven years behind the desk.

Other recent guest hosts have included Sarah Silverman, Leslie Jones, Michelle Wolf, Charlamagne tha God and Michael Kosta.

Whether The Daily Show comes calling, Nice hinted he's already got something else cooking.

He said with a smile, "If not, I might be working on my own project. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge."
