Jill Duggar Dillard is providing another glimpse into her relationship with her dad, Jim Bob Duggar.

After the release of her memoir Counting the Cost, the former TLC reality star has been more open about her distant relationship with her father.

But during Tuesday's episode of the Vulnerable podcast, Jill said her father also has a complicated bond with her husband, Derick Dillard.

"It used to be really great," she told host Christy Carlson Romano. "I think Derick trusted my dad and my dad trusted him. But then, once we started having some differences and saying things that weren't — we weren't falling in line with everything — it got a little rocky there."

According to Jill, Derick had to have some "hard conversations" with Jim Bob and more recently, "to the point where he was standing up to protect me and say, 'This is not okay, how you're treating your daughter.'"

"I think my dad got the picture when Derick was telling him, 'If you keep contacting her directly, then I'll have to file a protective order,'" Jill recalled. "That's kind of where their relationship is right now."

The Messenger has reached out to the Duggar family's rep for comment.

In September, Jill released her memoir where she detailed her relationships with several family members. In the book, she alleged that Jim Bob tricked her into signing a TV contract before her wedding day.

In a statement to Good Morning America that same month, Jim Bob and his wife Michelle Duggar said, "We've aimed to deal honorably with our children, our finances and other endeavors. While imperfect, it is our intent and desire to live a life that honors Christ."

They also added that they don't believe "the best way to resolve conflicts" is through the media or a public forum, so would not comment any further.

In her latest podcast interview, Jill expressed hope that her family can move forward in a positive direction at some point.

"We hope for the future that things can get better," she said. "But we're not rushing things either with my family. We want to have good relationships. We want there to be better trust."
