David and Victoria Beckham: a look at their iconic wedding, four kids, thriving careers and storied marriage that has endured for over two decades
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham continue to be one of the most famous couples in the entire world. Recently, fans got a deeper look at the couple's life — from their marriage and four kids to the real story behind their biggest headlines — thanks to Beckham, a new four-part Netflix documentary covering David's storied soccer career and journey.
See below for an overview of the couple's enduring marriage, business empire and family.
David and Victoria Beckham's wedding
David and Victoria Beckham famously went all out for their Robin Hood-themed wedding, which was held at Luttrellstown Castle outside of Dublin, Ireland, on July 4, 1999. Victoria wore a satin Vera Wang gown (complete with a diamond and gold crown!), and the pair changed into matching purple outfits for the reception.
Despite the grand setting, the wedding itself was actually an intimate event of less than 30 guests comprised mostly of family and close friends. Their eldest son Brooklyn, who was born just four months before, was also in attendance.

As for the reception: that was a bigger party with about 230 guests including Elton John, David's Manchester United teammates and Victoria's fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice)and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice).
One standout feature of their reception: the couple's matching gold thrones.
David and Victoria Beckham's 4 kids
David and Victoria Beckham have four kids together: three sons Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and a daughter Harper.
Brooklyn Beckham: The eldest child of David and Victoria married Nicola Peltz in April 2022 in a splashy, star-studded wedding. As a symbol of their devotion to one another and each other's families, Brooklyn and Nicola use "Peltz Beckham" as their last name. He has been building a culinary career as a food influencer and recently launched a sake brand.
Romeo Beckham: Romeo has followed in his father's football (for those not in the US, that is what the world calls soccer) footsteps and currently plays for Brentford Football Club.
Cruz Beckham: Cruz has been pursuing music recently. The teen's Instagram is filled with images and videos of him practicing music and recording in a studio.
Harper Beckham: The apple of the family's eye as the youngest child and sole sister, Harper is a fixture on her family's social channels. "Keep being beautiful inside and out," David wrote in celebration of Harper turning 12. "You are the most amazing little girl a daddy could wish for." Meanwhile, Victoria also gushed over Harper, calling her the "sweetest, kindest soul."
David and Victoria Beckham's marriage
The couple have endured their fair share since they started dating in 1997. Over the years, they've shared how it was love (or at least serious like) from the start. David even has the train ticket Victoria wrote her number on after their second meeting, telling Jimmy Fallon in 2020: "We all had our favorite Spice Girl...She was obviously my favorite."
In 2004, their relationship hit its "hardest period," according to Victoria. That year, David was accused of having an affair shortly after moving to Spain to play for Real Madrid following his exit from Manchester United. "Up until Madrid, sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other. But when we were in Spain it didn't really feel like we had each other either. And that's sad," she said in the Beckham documentary.
The pair endured. "I don't know how we got through it in all honesty. Victoria's everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult. But we're fighters. And at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family," David said in the documentary. "And what we had was worth fighting for. But ultimately, it's our private life."
Victoria recently gushed about her husband as she celebrated his new documentary: "I couldn't be more proud of you and 'us' I love you so much #DavidBeckham!!"
David and Victoria Beckham's careers
Both David and Victoria had icon-making first careers. During his tenure with Manchester United and the England national team, David became a sports legend and Victoria cemented her place in pop-culture history as Posh Spice of the Spice Girls.
Today, Victoria continues to expand her fashion and beauty empire, and David co-owns Inter Miami (and famously helped lure Lionel Messi to play stateside).
In 2022, Victoria's brand turned profitable. According to Vogue Business, Victoria's beauty brand Victoria Beckham Beauty is reaching for $100 million in sales.
The Beckham documentary
The Beckham documentary is available now on Netflix. The four-part series chronicles David's career (from its heights to his dismissal — and its painful aftermath — from the 1998 World Cup and his departure from Manchester United). It features interviews with friends, family and David himself.
"People know these stories, but they’ve never really heard my side," David told The Telegraph about the documentary.
