The hosts of iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball 2023 in Detroit became anti-heroes when they played a prank on the Swifities in the audience.

Hosted by local radio station Channel 955 at Little Caesars Arena, the holiday concert saw performances from Jelly Roll, Usher, and Flo Rida on Tuesday night and in the midst of it all, announced a surprise guest.

"She’s arguably having the best year of anyone ever," said the host. "Is anybody familiar with a song called 'Cruel Summer?' Does anybody know a song called 'Karma?' In her Jingle Ball Era…make some noise, for... Trailer Swift."

The crowd erupted into screams before they realized they were being duped. An impersonator played by Channel 955 producer Kristin Penrose flounced on stage and the energy quickly soured as she performed an off-key version of "Fearless."

Video captured the moment the audience realized they were tricked, and they were clearly not amused. "What the f---," you can hear one audience member say.

Fans took to social media to express their outrage. "Went to the jingle ball last night and they hyped up a special guest like it was Taylor swift and it was a look a like named 'trailer swift' WHEN I TELL YOU I NEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK? I was pissed."
