Christina Ricci, the Addams Family and Yellowjackets actress who serves as the national spokesperson for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), has spoken out following Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis' apology for writing character letters in support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

"So sometimes people we loved and admired do horrible things," Ricci wrote on her Instagram story. "They might not do these things to us and we only know who they were to us but that doesn't mean they didn't do the horrible things and to discredit the abused is a crime."

"People we know as 'awesome guys' can be predators and abusers," she added. "It's tough to accept but we have to. If we say we support victims — women, children, men, boys — then we must be able to take this stance."

"Unfortunately I've known lots of 'awesome guys' who were lovely to me have been proven to be abusers privately. I've also had personal experience with this. Believe victims. It's not easy to come forward. It's not easy to get a conviction."

Ricci, who has been RAINN's national spokesperson since 2007, filed for divorce in 2020 and said that she was subjected to "severe physical and emotional abuse" by ex-husband James Heerdegen. She was granted a Domestic Abuse Restraining Order against Heerdegen in 2021.

Kunis and Kutcher, with whom Ricci once shared a kiss while presenting the award for Best Kiss at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards, were among 47 people who wrote letters to a judge asking for leniency in sentencing their former That '70s Show co-star Masterson.

After facing criticism online, the couple shared a video apologizing for writing letters on Masterson’s behalf. "We support victims," Kunis said. "We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future."

One of the women Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping has called the couple's apology video "insulting and hurtful."

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.
