AEW’s Chris Jericho Wants to Star In a Broadway Musical (Exclusive)
The wrestling legend, who stars in UPtv's 'Country Hearts,' is eager to spread his acting wings even further, with his sights set on The Great White Way
Pro wrestler. Actor. Rock band frontman. Broadway musical star? Who's to say no to Chris Jericho?
The AEW star, who appears in UPtv's new movie Country Hearts, is planning on turning up the volume on his acting career from here.
"I never, ever put myself in a box for anything that I do," Jericho exclusively told The Messenger. "I'm an entertainer. If I said I wanted to play center for the L.A. Kings, it's probably not going to happen. But if I say I want to do Broadway, why not?"
In addition to his legendary career inside the squared circle, Jericho has been the lead singer of heavy metal band Fozzy since 2000.
"I can act, I can sing," Jericho continued. "I understand what it's like to be in front of a crowd. Anything that's in that world for me, I'm open to it."
In fact, Jericho said he's ready to pack his bags.
"I could get an offer to do Broadway tomorrow," he said, "and if it came my way, I would seriously consider it. I never thought I'd get an offer to play an ex-rock star father who is now a horse breeding farmer."

So, about that last part...
In Country Hearts, Jericho plays Bones who is, yes, an ex-rock star father who is now a horse breeding farmer.
As a father of three himself — to son Ash, 20, and twin daughters Sierra Cheyenne, 17 — Jericho was able to use some of his real-life experiences as inspiration.
"Being away from home and having kids getting to the age where they're going to go out and do things on their own," Jericho said, "all of that stuff really focused in to who I am and where I am at this stage in life. It really was a no-brainer for me to do this."
Country Hearts premieres Oct. 22 at 8/7c on the network, with sequel Country Hearts Christmas, also starring Jericho, premiering Nov. 19 on the network.
