‘Love Island Games’ Star Callum Hole Reveals If He and Liberty Poole Could Get Together After the Show (Exclusive)
The two were in a friendship couple for the majority of Peacock's 'Love Island Games,' but fans wanted them to be something more
This friendship isn't a game to Callum Hole. The Love Island Games star came in third place with Deb Chubb during Monday night's finale, ultimately losing out to Day 1 couple Justine Ndiba and Jack Fowler. Throughout the majority of the competition, Hole was paired with Love Island UK alum Liberty Poole — and fans wanted them to be more than just friends. According to Hole himself, though, there just wasn't a romantic connection.
"She is one of the nicest girls I've ever met. She's such a beautiful girl. But there's just that no-spark there for me, that I needed," he exclusively told The Messenger the day after the finale. "Don't get me wrong — I think old Callum would have still had a rip for the sake of having a rip in there. But I was like, 'No, she's actually such a nice girl. I don't want to actually f--- her over.' I was like, 'I'm actually, for once, just going to be your friend, and we're going to leave on good terms. I would never want to jeopardize our friendship just for a bit of fun. It wasn't worth it for me."
The "old Callum," as Hole referred to, made his first television appearance on Season 4 of Love Island Australia. During the season, he coupled up with five women, ultimately tying for second place with partner Madeline Wilcox. Hole and Wilcox split shortly after the show due to long distance.
In the Love Island Games villa, Hole found that spark with Chubb, who first starred on Season 4 of Love Island USA. And although they have an even larger distance to cover — from California to Australia — Hole said he and Chubb are looking forward to giving their relationship a try, especially since he's planning on spending time in the United States in 2024.
"We're just taking it as it comes," he said. "But she's such a relaxed and chill person. We'll just see what happens... I don't think we're gonna put any pressure on it. She did mention something about coming over here for New Years, so potentially we'd be linking up then — if not, definitely the new year when I head over to the States, for sure."
"I think we could just give it a go," he added. "If it works out, it works out. But we've got no pressure on it."

And, according to the former pool boy, he had even more connections that weren't shown on-screen. After her partner, Megan Barton-Hanson, left the villa due to illness, Hole said he began "putting some graft in" with Love Island USA's Kyra Green — even though they previously had been at odds while warring for Barton-Hanson.
"We had a bit of beef there, because we were both talking to Megs," he explained. "Megs left, and I was like, 'Hold on a minute. This is this is crazy to think that now I fancy Kyra!'"
Green ultimately coupled up with Carrington Rodriguez, and the two were subsequently dumped from the villa.
Plus, this won't be the last time we see Hole on television. The Aussie said he'll soon be starring on three different series, if everything goes according to plan.
"I love just being myself on TV, 'cause I feel like a lot people have to put on this persona and stuff, but I can just be myself and just have fun," he explained. "It just works for me, so why not do it? Hopefully, I can find love [too] one day, because at the moment, it's been two shows. Not looking very good!"
