Britney Spears' estranged father Jamie Spears has been hospitalized "for weeks" due to a serious infection.

The 71-year-old is allegedly "severely ill" after suffering from a bad infection that "required surgery," according to multiple reports

The Messenger's request for comment from Jamie's lawyer was not immediately returned.

In August, TMZ reported that Jamie had been in and out of the hospital for months due to an infection stemming from his knee replacement 16 years ago. The outlet also reported that he had lost about 25 lbs. amid his illness.

Jamie has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since he was terminated as elder daughter Britney's conservator in September 2021. The "Toxic" singer previously called for her dad to be jailed over allegations of "abuse" while he controlled her finances, career and estate for more than a decade.

"He loved the control [he had] to hurt his own daughter, one hundred thousand percent," the Grammy Award winner alleged during a virtual status hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court in June 2021.

"I've lied and told the whole world I'm OK and I'm happy. I've been in denial. I've been in shock. I am traumatized… I'm not happy. I can't sleep. I'm so angry. It's insane. And I'm depressed. I cry every day," she said before adding, "I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. It's my wish and my dream for all of this to end."

A Los Angeles judge completely terminated the pop star's 13-year conservatorship in November that same year.
