Britney Spears’ 2002 Film ‘Crossroads’ to Return to Theaters After 21 Years
The rerelease dates coincide with the debut of Spears' upcoming tell-all memoir, 'The Woman In Me'
Crossroads, the 2002 romantic comedy starring Britney Spears, is headed back to theaters 21 years after its initial release.
Trafalgar Releasing, Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records have organized the Crossroads Global Fan Event to bring the cult classic film to cinemas around the world on Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
The film stars Spears, Anson Mount, Zoë Saldana, Taryn Manning, Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd. It was written by Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, Bridgerton, Grey's Anatomy) and directed by Tamra Davis.
"I am beyond thrilled that Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records and Trafalgar Releasing are rereleasing Crossroads in movie theaters," said Davis in a statement.
"I recently rewatched Crossroads and was so enthralled with the time capsule of nostalgia that this incredible ensemble cast brings to the screen. Britney is absolutely breathtaking to watch, and Shonda is showing us her early expertise in writing complicated female characters. We had the best time in the world making this picture and the connection the actresses bring to their performances shows in every frame. The music will undoubtedly have audiences dancing and singing along and I know everyone will have as much fun watching these scenes as we had making them. I'm so grateful that Crossroads will be available so people can see Britney shine again.”
Following the film, the Crossroads Global Fan Event will also include a big-screen sing-along of Spears' two songs on the soundtrack.
The film will be distributed in over 24 countries in 875 theaters. Tickets go on sale Sept. 28 at 9 a.m ET here.
