‘Below Deck’ Star Captain Sandy Feels ‘Fearless’ While Celebrating 34 Years of Sobriety
'The work continues on a daily basis and all those days added up to my 34 years of continuous sobriety today,' the Bravo star shared
Captain Sandy Yawn is celebrating another milestone in her health and wellness journey.
Earlier this week, the Below Deck star announced that she has been sober for more than 30 years.
"34 years ago today I was broken, I felt hopeless and I didn't feel worthy to look up at the sky," Yawn wrote on Instagram Tuesday. "I tried for years to stay clean and sober and on August 29th 1989, something shifted inside of me and for the 1st time in many years, I was able to look at the sky and feel worthy."
"I felt hopeful and I did the work that it takes to stay clean and sober," she continued. "The work continues on a daily basis and all those days added up to my 34 years of continuous sobriety today!"
As she now travels the world as a captain of luxurious yachts, the Bravo star added that she feels "fearless, energetic and motivated to continue on this journey."
"Thank you to all the people who have helped me throughout the years," Yawn concluded. "I am grateful and I love you."
Soon after marking the milestone, the captain received well wishes from her extended Below Deck family.
