If There Is a ‘Barbie’ Sequel, Ryan Gosling Wants to Play ‘Sandwich Ken’

Ryan Gosling says that he and 'Barbie' co-star America Ferrera 'know nothing' about a potential sequel

Although rumors of a potential Barbie sequel have been swirling since the movie's blockbuster success, star Ryan Gosling insists that he doesn't know any more than we do.

"Oh, I'm not going anywhere near that. We really know nothing," the actor said when asked about the possibility of 'Barbie 2' during a conversation at London's BFI Southbank with co-star America Ferrera on Friday, per Variety.

"We have no information," Ferrera added. "I will say, what Greta [Gerwig] and Margot [Robbie] have said is they did not set out to make a franchise. They put it all out on the table. Every bit of it that they loved and that they knew to do, they did. Which is refreshing, right? We're not setting it up for 20 years of Barbie movies. But then again, I know nothing, so there might be 20 years [of Barbie] … or a Ken spin-off?"

Ferrera's response echoes comments made by Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, in an interview last month. "I think we put everything into this one. We didn't build it to be a trilogy or something," she said. "Greta put everything into this movie, so I can't imagine what would be next."

But if there ever is a Barbie sequel or Ken spin-off, Gosling would like to get to play a slightly different version of Ken.

"Can it be a husky Ken?" he asked. "Can I play Husky Ken, like Sandwich Ken? Can I play that Ken next time?"
