There’s Finally Proof That ‘Aquaman 2’ Exists

After months of speculation about the status of the film, WB has dropped the first look at 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'

Don't worry (or maybe do worry), DC fans, at long last, the marketing push for Aquaman 2 has begun.

Back in 2018, Jason Momoa's Aquaman didn't just become a hit — it became the highest-grossing film in DC history, with a worldwide haul of $1.15 billion. Ordering a sequel from director James Wan (Furious 7) was a no-brainer, but it's allegedly been nothing but trouble since then.

In addition to the major leadership change at DC, which leaves Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as the last entry in the SnyderVerse, the buzz surrounding the film is troubling — whether it be the many reshoots, the rumors of disastrous test screenings, or the fact that there'd yet to be a trailer, despite a December release date.

Well, at least there's finally movement on that last front. That's because WB just dropped the first teaser for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Sunday, with the promise of a full trailer later this week.

The very brief video features plenty of shots of underwater action and Momoa as Aquaman, as well as a brief look at Amber Heard's return as Mera. The only dialogue is Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) declaring, "I'm gonna kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear."

A month before the teaser, star Randall Park previously told The Messenger of preparing for his big superhero winter, which includes Lost Kingdom and The Marvels.

"It's not like I'm playing a different superhero in each one. I'm a civilian, so it's manageable," he shared. "I'm just so blown away by how things have unfolded, and really just trying to have fun throughout it all and to stay thankful."

Also starring Dolph Lundgren and Patrick Wilson, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom swims into theaters Dec. 20.
