Secura Recalls Over 6,000 Air Fyers Over Fire Hazard
The company received nine reports of its air fryers 'catching fire, burning and smoking'
The small-appliance company Secura recalled about 6,400 air fryers on Sept. 28 over fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
A wire connection in the air fryers can overheat resulting in a risk of fire or burns, the commission said. The California-based company has received nine reports of the air fryers "catching fire, burning and smoking." As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or property damage.
The recalled air fryers have the model numbers SAF-53D (TXG-DT16E) with a date code of 1901 and SAF-53 (TXG-DS16) with date codes of 1903 and 1904. They were sold on Amazon and Secura's website from May 2019 through October 2020 and cost between $48 and $90.
Consumers affected by the recall are being asked to contact Secura for a $45 Amazon gift card or a free replacement.
To receive either the gift card or replacement, consumers must send Secura their contact information and a photo of the air fryer with its power cord cut off.
