Denver’s Marijuana Mansion Listed for $2.3 Million
This museum billing itself as "Denver's Dopest Experience" comes with a cannabis dispensary
Denver’s "Marijuana Mansion" where cannabis advocates headquartered their legalization efforts was listed for $2.3 million. And it comes with a dispensary.
The historic Creswell Mansion served as offices for the Marijuana Legalization Project, which successfully campaigned for the legalization of the drug in 13 of the 23 states where it is currently legal. The mansion’s site proudly states that it’s where “the world’s first successful recreational marijuana bill was written.”
Now a museum selling itself as “Denver’s Dopest Experience,” the Marijuana Mansion promises visitors they’ll experience an “epic insta-worthy playground” while learning about the history of the property — and weed. The property also includes a second building hosting the Green Dragon Dispensary.
The Creswell Mansion was built in 1889 for a wealthy Denver businessman, Joseph Creswell, and his family, according to its website. It’s currently owned by Lisa Leder, who purchased the property for $2.1 million in 2019, said the listing agent, Cory Gross of Marcus & Millichap. In 2020, Leder renovated the mansion and began running its interactive museum.
“The mansion has hosted weddings, holiday parties, burlesque shows and drag shows, among other events,” said Gross, adding that a new owner could give the business “more hands-on attention” or alternatively turn it into offices or back into a home. The neighboring Green Dragon Dispensary is one of 48 Green Dragon Cannabis locations and has a long-term lease at the downtown Denver location, according to Gross. The business would continue operating under the new owner.
