A Trump Tower Penthouse on Central Park Sells for $23 Million

It wasn't all bad news this week for former President Trump.
A fancy penthouse apartment in a tower brandishing his name along Central Park West in New York City sold for $23.5 million, according to city records.
The apartment last sold in 1997 for $6 million, so the quadrupling in price shows some buyers are immune to any negatives associated with the Trump brand. The apartment, according to the StreetEasy real estate site, is nearly 4,500 square feet with five bedrooms and six and half baths. The 44-story tower is located at the southwester corner of Central Park and its apartments offer sweeping views of the park and the city skyline. The building also houses a Jean-Georges restaurant, which boasts two Michelin stars.
The buyer of the penthouse apartment was not identified. The unit had been put up for sales several times over the years, but was de-listed each time.
After Trump was elected president, residents of his buildings across the country voted to have his name removed from their buildings.
Not the Central Park tower, however, which still showcases his name on its facade.
While the sale is good news for Trump given his increasingly perilous legal situation, his troubles could eventually hurt his holdings. The Real Deal reports that "a conviction in either of his felony indictments could trigger lenders to pay up in full or refinance. It could also make it difficult for Trump to acquire financing and prevent him from managing LLC partnerships."
